The Millard Sheets Center for the Arts exhibits art that provokes curiosity, inspires interest, expands thinking, and educates people of all ages in order to enrich lives and advance the understanding of art’s intrinsic value to society.

Guiding Principles

As the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts fulfills its mission we will strive to:

• present diverse and progressive art exhibitions with lively education components
• teach art observation and evaluation techniques
• offer creative, hands-on art making experiences
• collaborate with regional art organizations
• promote understanding of diverse cultures
• encourage new generations of art enthusiasts with a lasting appreciation for art
• maintain the history and tradition of the MSCAF facility and its founders

Vision Statement

Our vision is to develop the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts into a vital center for the arts, one that will offer diversified exhibitions and educational programs.  Exhibitions will include art in all media by emerging contemporary artists from Southern California, historical surveys of established artists from around the US, as well as exhibits that help to interpret our cultural heritage.  Educational programming will include interpretive programs of exhibitions with tours, lectures, and hands-on activities, as well as formal art education classes in art making and appreciation.  The Board of Directors is now embarking on a new strategic planning process, one that will help guide the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts towards fulfilling their vision to create a relevant cultural resource in the community
